About the role
Overview
About Null
Null is creating a new DeFi primitive: permissionless leverage on anything. Our protocol enables leverage on any asset, yield stream, or financial product or metric, expanding what’s possible in trustless finance.
We are a small team backed by a Tier-1 VC and some of the founding architects of Uniswap. We operate with deep conviction in crypto’s first principles: open systems, trustless architecture, decentralization, and user sovereignty.
If you want to work at the frontier of DeFi and help define a new category of leverage, this is where you’ll do it.
Web3 PhD Research Intern
We’re seeking a highly motivated PhD student with strong technical writing skills and deep interest in Web3 and crypto to join our team on a part-time internship basis. This role focuses on producing high-quality documentation, including whitepapers, protocol docs, and patent applications, and helping shape the written foundation of emerging Web3 protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Write and maintain technical documentation for the protocol, developer resources, and system design
• Draft and refine whitepapers and research deliverables explaining complex blockchain concepts
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate technical specifications into clear prose
• Conduct literature reviews, synthesize research findings, and ensure documentation accuracy
• Contribute to other writing tasks requiring analytical thinking and strong communication
Who You Are
• Currently enrolled PhD student at a reputable university (any discipline with strong analytical and research skills)
• Excellent written communication skills with the ability to explain complex topics clearly and concisely
• Proficient with LaTeX for structured, professional technical content
• Deep interest and experience in Web3 / crypto, including familiarity with DeFi protocols
• Strong research and synthesis skills
Why Join Null
• Flexible, part-time work that fits around your PhD studies
• Opportunity to build your portfolio with high-visibility technical writing and research output
• Mentorship and collaboration with experienced teams in Web3
• Competitive compensation
• Remote-first, async-first culture built for focus and deep work
• Backed by some of the strongest convictions in DeFi
